The mission of the Athens Photographic Project is to facilitate recovery for individuals living with mental illness by providing the tools for photography and self-expression within an encouraging environment, and empowering participants in their rediscovery of identity, confidence and hope. Andrew Angelson, Sandy White and Paul Reininga are all mentors for the APP. A mentor is a former student in the APP that now volunteers to help current students. The mentors tell the story and the majority of the photographs are from the participants.
